I arrived home from Catalyst Conference at about 2AM. Christa woke up to greet me and we started talking about the conference. After a a long pause - the kind that might mean she's asleep, or just thinking - I said, "I think God wants us to adopt a child!". She said, "Yeah, I was thinking the same thing! Wait... you're talking about those organizations that ask you donate $40/month to help feed a hungry child in some foreign country right?"



The darkness in our bedroom must not have been able to mask my telling expression. She looked at me a few seconds more and said, "Oh! You mean really adopt?!?" Another long pause followed. Then she said, "I'm kinda scared about it, but I think God wants us to adopt too!"

The fact that my wife is so in-tune with God and can read my mind without me stumbling over words makes complete changes in lifestyle much easier! A few days of prayer only confirmed our 2AM feelings were more than the affects of the lack of sleep.

We began gathering all the books our public library had on the topic (which isn't much by the way). We submitted requests for information from lots of adoption agencies including the Department of Children and Family services (DCF). We visited websites like http://www.adoptflorida.org to view pictures of children who
don't have parents and to learn more about the adoption process in Florida.
